School Requiem
“I feel like crap,” the student groans, dropping into a chair near the front of the room.
The student’s friends hum in agreement, as they too take their seats, and their teacher walks up to the student who had spoken.
“That’s what happens when you wait until the night before to do projects,” scolds the teacher.
Sighing, the student looks up at the teacher, eyes filled with weariness.
“This isn’t just one night of sleep that I’ve lost,” states the student. “This is the result of many sleepless nights, working on one-night-assignments that put too much pressure on me. The result of cramming for exams that were created for me to fail. The result of me being stuck in this Hell and wasting years of my life.”
The teacher is silent.
“I can’t wait for summer,” grumbles to student, and the teacher nods once, walking away.
